The Secret in Their Eyes is a beautiful movie. I’m talking about the Argentine original movuie directed by of Juan José Campanella, released in 2009, not of the American remake of 2015 that I did not see for my own personal bias (see the comparative review).
Oscar as best foreign film is embellished by a couple of memorable scenes on a football background.
I have tried to celebrate the protagonists by making cartoon-style portraits.
I found it difficult to represent these actors, perhaps because I did not know them, or maybe because of the fear of not doing a good job. In the end I tried to get a minimal representation.
Please, find below my favorite quotes from the movie.
“A guy can change anything. His face, his home, his family, his girlfriend, his religion, his God. But there’s one thing he can’t change. He can’t change his passion…”Pablo Sandoval (Guillermo Francella)“The worst part is I’m starting to forget. I have to constantly make myself remember her. Every day. The day she was killed, Liliana made me tea with lemon. I’d been coughing all night and she said it would help. I remember those stupid things. Can you see? Then I start having doubts and I don’t remember if it was lemon or honey in the tea. And I don’t know if it’s a memory or a memory of a memory I’m left with.”Ricardo Morales (Pablo Rago)“Please. Tell him… Tell him at least to talk to me. Please…” Isidoro Gómez (Javier Godino)
